I am running a stock 351 Clevland 2v in my 72 Gran Torino and it is one of the most powerful cars I have ever driven. If I hit the gas too hard, the car will spin out. I love my Cleveland. Anyway, old post but I want to do a IDI swap in a 78 or 79 Bronco too. So I can buy a cheap donor with a good engine and transmission and swap the drivetrain to the Bronco, right? If this is the case I can do it for under 2,000 dollars as cheap as trucks are up here. A few questions though, will the motor mounts out of a donor truck work for the Bronco? I also heard, I think from a post by American Thunder, that I should do a 3 inch body lift and move the engine back a few inches, is this true? I am hoping to pull this off with a stick welder and some basic tools, would there be anything else I would need?

I have the whole build-up detailed with pics in my '78 Bronco thread, check it out. But I used a Cummins, which required custom trans adapter and flexplate. The body lift makes things a LOT easier. And moving the drivetrain back in the chassis has some important benefits, but also causes some issues that must be resolved.
