i was wondering what the max egts should be for my 7.3idit. i have my pyrometer right on the exhaust manifolt though not behind the turbo because that was too much of a pain in the *** to do....so i was wondering if the limit is still 1250 or is it higher because its reading it right off the manifold? because right now when i go up a hill and floor it it reaches right around 1250-1300 thanks

I would stay to the safe side and not let it get above 1200. The piston tops will melt if above 1250 for extended period off time (seconds).
1200 is rather high for more than a minute of so.
Extended pull, stay around 1100 - 1150.
My reason is the piston cooling jets are spraying oil on the bottom of the piston, and that puts a lot of heat into the oil.
