08 - 09 Mirrors

I posted something a couple weeks ago about 08 - 09 mirrors because i was curious about how they fit / work. Some guys said something about switching somehting from the right to the left and vise versa.

I purchased them and they just came in!!!

Does anyone have the wiring diagram or anything else I may need to do the install? I just want to make sure my i's are dotted and t's are crossed before i rip my truck apart for the install.. I cant wait to get them installed!!!

Thank you in advanse,

Rob

Search the forum for the fix. It's somewhat involved and you'll really need to want to do it.

Basically the issue is when you want to adjust the mirror the left-right controls are reversed. When you push to move the mirror right it moves left and vice versa. You get used to it real quick but you might want to change it.

From what I've read that involves taking the mirror apart and will probably be easier to do before you install them.

You'll need to remove a tab on the part that touches the door and the the wiring is pretty straightforward especially if you already have the built in running & signal light in your existing mirrors. I cut the plug off my old mirror and spliced into the new mirror's harness. All the wire colors match. Pretty easy.

The 09 mirrors move correctly. I don't know if the the 09 mirrors have a wiring change compared to 08 or if the switch is different. Maybe you should do a rough hookup to test the direction of movement before you take them apart.

I hate sounding like a bonehead, but you have an '09 so I would expect them to act correctly on your truck. Do you know someone who retrofitted '09 mirrors on a Pre-'08 truck and had them operate correctly or are you referring to yours operating correctly?

I'm just saying that they are correct on the 09. So if the 09 mirrors are a diffferent part number than 08, perhaps they might work right on an earlier vehicle.

Do they normally move correctly on the 08 models? I thought the 08 model year had the problem mirrors and when those were installed on earlier vehicles, they worked backwards as well.

Perhaps someone can set us straight. Does the problem only occur when the new mirrors are installed in older vehicles?

Here's one link on the wiring.

I thought I bookmarked the one about reversing the mirror but I can't seem to find it.

Edit: Found it.

Edit: Here's another link for mirror swap.
