Installed 08 mirrors on 05 today

Got my 08 mirrors from Dfuser today. Had them installed in about an hour. I used butt connectors to wire them in and had to figure out a couple of wires as they were different than the sheet Bill sent with the mirrors. Bottom line is the install is simple and the new mirrors look good to me. I'm very pleased with the view in the bigger spot mirrors. Dfuser's service was excellent including very fast shipping.

Thanks for the update on the wiring diagram. Ford made changes in wire colors on 05-07.

Which ones did you get? Power or Power Fold + Telescopic? I want to update my 2005 pup dog mirrors and having trouble deciding between the '03-'07 style or the '08s - can't make up my mind.

I bought the 08 mirrors for my Excursion 3 moths ago and love them to death. I love them so much I am going to buy another pair from defuser for my 00 Excursion. WildWildWest The 08 mirrors not only look ausome but you can see more that the 05 towing mirors so go with the 08 IMHO. They are such an inprovement from my puppie dog mirrors. There are pics in my gallery if you want to look,
Nick

If you have a need and can afford the Power Fold/Extend, they are well worth it. No more getting out of the truck to do these functions anymore. Makes easier to park anywhere and go thru naroow places. Avoid people hitting your mirrors when parked.

I had power, signal and heat which is what I got with the 08 models. I can't justify the extra $$ for power fold and tele. The 08s pull out so easily that you can do it from inside the truck with one hand.

When the mirrors are in the non-towing position, do they stick out any less than the original mirrors? I understand and agree with all of the benefits of the power fold mirrors, I just am trying to juggle a few things to use during deer and duck season this year. This very second, it is difficult for me to justify the $$ for the folders.

Definately wait til you have the cash for the power fold/tele...it will be worth the wait.

i got the power fold and for me its worth the extra money...since i only paid around 700 for the pair...i have the switchs in the "driver side glove box" mounted to a piece of MDF laminated in a black piece of wilson art laminate. looks great and very clean...BUT if you ave to pay the full cost, its just dumb IMHO. very expensive for the luxory of not having to roll down the window and pull...but i have to admit going down the skinny roads and being able to fold em in and EVERYTIME the oncoming vehicle waves to say thanks. i dont tow so i dont even know why i bought them....lol

OK, now the big question. I have a '06 F350 and have changed out my mirrors for the '08 power fold/scope mirrors.

I have spliced an '06 plug onto the wires for mirror movenent (left/right, up/down) lights and heat. My truck lacks the relay or module to make the fold & scope work. Just like the glass movement to move one way is +12vdc & the other way -12vdc.

What is or how do I rig up something to work the fold/scope function that can reverse polarity?

What have you guys done?
