I have been looking for a steering column for my 72 auto ps truck forever it seems. I finally found a couple of columns at the wrecking yard that I can build one out of.I have the short column, shifter tube, and shaft.I also have the shift arm and the auto socket. The signal switch had been hacked from another column. So I think I have everything except...I need the indicator lense, pointer, and possibly bulb ? I need a pic that shows the turn switch and indicator with the steering wheel removed. Is there supposed to be a place for illumination for the gear indicator?, and how exactly does the pointer mount to the collar?I have searched the forum and even referenced the exploded parts diagrams, but nothing shows that detail.

1965/74: The pointer was originally made as part of the collar.
In 1975, Ford replaced the original collar with a new design (D5TZ7228A) that has a slot in it for the separate pointer (D3TZ7A110A) to slide into.
This collar is still available from Ford and comes with the pointer.
If your truck already has this newer collar, the pointer itself is obsolete, but can still be found at dealers, obsolete parts vendors.
The shift indicator dial (C7TZ7B033E) has been reproduced and is available from carolina-classics.com for $22.00.
There was no light available for the indicator on these trucks.
You want a detailed picture of the entire column from one end to the other?
You need to see: "Illustration Section 35, page 8" in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, which is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for $22.00.
Ok, I think I figured out what I have now. I have the newer collar with the slot for the pointer. Caralina classics sells the pointer seperate. It must clip into the slot. They also have the dial, and turn signal switch. Has anyone used their switch? It is $55 iirc . I read the ones from D.C have incorrect pins. Thanks for your input. I didn't know the dial wasn't illuminated.I should be able to get the dial, pointer and switch and be complete.

You have the newer collar with the rectangular cut-out (slot) for the pointer to slide into, correct? (The pointer has a groove in it, so it just slides in).
carolina-classics.com pointer is the correct one: D3TZ7A110A.
I have Carolina Classics paper catalog. Their turn signal info is sorta in-correct.
