Hi all, I have an 86 F-350 with a Banks on a 6.9. When I purchased this truck all the running lights and instrument cluster lights worked except the driver's front. Now none work, including the instrument cluster lights. The guages and tach work. I have checked the fuses (none blown) and replaced all the bulbs without success.
I am at a loss as to the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. - John
headlight switch is probably bad. could also be the wireing harness where it plugs on to the headlight switch. you have to remove the switch, and seperate the 2. usually they get hot, and melt the plug. could also check for bad wire job on trailer hookup, might be shorting out the running lights
Dustybumpers. Thanks for the reply. I have put a new headlight switch on and I removed the trailer lights as the previous owner did a crappy job of installing them and the splices were grounding out on the hitch receiver.
Does it have the floor mounted dimmer switch? If so, try a new dimmer switch.
Dimmer switch goes to the headlights only. If he didn't get it fixed, more than likely the tan/white wire going to the headlight switch is burned in two.
Hey guys, no I haven't fixed it yet. The dimmer switch works. I will look at the brown/white wire. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you know what happens.

Franklin2,
Thank you for the advice. The tan/white wire was the culprit. I had to replace a bunch of wires coming from the fuse block last year as the previous owner only used 30 amp fuses and melted a bunch of the wiring. I didn't have the new tan/white wire pushed far enough into the fuse block to get power. It was a 5 minute fix. THANK YOU! This is a great site! Thank you to everyone else who gave me pointers as well.
