I have a 2001 F350 and instrument cluster lights will not work. Fuses are good and the gauges still work just not the lights. Any Ideas? Thanks in Advance!
The backlight of the gauges do not work. I have already replaced the headlight switch and made sure the dimmer was all the way up. The backlight for the climate control also does not work, so i think they are both tied into the same circuit.
You're going to need to get a meter out and make some checks at the headlight switch to see what's going on. You've already reached the limit of guessing.
The steering wheel illumination, radio light dimmer, 4wd mode switch illumination, climate control and instrument cluster backlight are all on the same circuit. Since you lost the climate control backlight, it's probably not the ground side.
The hot side is all wired up to the pulse width dimmer module which gets its power from the headlight switch. It's very likely either you aren't getting 12v to the dimmer module from the headlight switch, the module is bad, or its output is shorted to ground somewhere
