I have a 1991 F350 crewcab Banks-turbocharged diesel. Since installing the new turbo the overdrive light blinks constantly. Anyone have any ideas on this? Might the Banks transcommand cause this?
i been going thru all the post on E4OD...
i got 96 F-250 with 146k miles, fluid pump at 85k and fluid pump/filter change at 146k...
after lifting truck 6" and putting on 35" tall x 16" wite tires my light will do the same in OD on the highway... i dont have Trans Command installed but was thinking of it. never knew this tranny was this problematic.
i think mine is overheating, has an aux cooler. my OD light blinks with a slight twitch of the spedometer. its like i have to give it a little too much gas doing 70 on the highway, pulling less than 2k on the tach on OD. i been babying it around in fdrive and keeping under 65mph with no more problems... other than one day at a light is was like it was stuck in a higher gear... brought the rpm up and it shifted hard into a lower gear... drove home on hwy (cooled off maybe?) and all is kinda normal again.
The transcommand might cause this. There is a cheap way to find out: Get a code reader. A code reader for your '91 should cost about $25 at most auto parts stores.
Get one, read the codes, post them here, and we can help you diagnose what's wrong.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Feb-02 AT 11:30 PM (EST)]well what was wrong with yours?
and btw that code reader will not work on my 96 and even says that in the manual that came with it... i bought it anyway and tried it... and the led's dont lite up like they should when i use it... and i dunno why mine is dirrerent.... 5.8L
Went off after a few days. I think the ECU and transcommand had to work things out between them! Had it for 7 months and haven't had any problems. Benjamin
