I was backing into a driveway to turn around on a country road and my rear passenger panel hit a wooden fence and scraped it from the wheel well to the tailgate. It also "crimped" in the exaust. This is the second time my reverse sensors have failed me. Once last fall I backed into and clipped a parked car. Im not whipping around, mind you, but I did rely on the sensors to assist in backing up.
Now Im supposed to be fishing, instead Im truck-less for two days while its at the body shop getting fixed. Im thinking of calling Ford and asking them to check my sensors to make sure they're working 100%. This is costing me $500
The body shop guy said he can try to fixed the crimped exaust, and if not, it'll cost me another $300-700
Will getting a crimped exaust pipe fixed cause any long term effects as opposed to getting it replaced? I dont have the $$$ to spend on that. It only has to last one year untill I turn this truck in to buy an 09 or 10 F150.
Man sorry to hear that. I used to drive a big stake body tandem wheel truck years ago.I always relied on my mirrors and didn't back up an inch more than I had to.
As long as the exhaust isn't crimped shut you sould be ok,I'd just make sure it still flows freely.
Hopefully Ill get my truck back today. They gave me loner car (a ford 500) to use. Am I the only one who feels naked with out their truck? This car is nice, but I dont know if I could ever go back to a car.
Im starting to get the shakes without it lol. Ill know whats up with it at 5pm today, and I hope it wont cost me any more $$$
