Rock ,whats your mileage like? Are you the original owner of the truck? Have you ever had the plugs changed before?

Is your 04 the heitage model? (same body style as 97-03) or is it a new body style 04? The new body style 04 has the same motor with 3valve heads instead of 2 valve heads. The problem with the new 04 to current, is you can't get the plugs out without breaking them!!!!

well waranty will cover the head.....But i have to pay for the coilpack that got destroyed and the spark plug.......bout 60 bucks for that lol but the motor is being pulled tomorrow to get the head out...My warranty wants them to ship it out to a machine shop for some sort of deal that they say can fix it but the dealer said they doubt its repairable...they did say that a helicoil wont fix it though

I just purchased a 2004 F250 with Triton V10. Is there anyway to head off the sparkplug problem? I only have 36,000 on the truck. My friend suggested removing the plugs and applying anti sieze to the threads.

I also just blew a plug 99f-250SD 5.4 triton. I talked to a ford mechanic today, he said there is an insert they can install. Not a helicoil. It has been a good fix rather than replacing the head. I asked if it was something I can do. He said if I bought the kit and the tools to install it. About a 1000.00 bucks. The dealer will do it for 300.00.

15lbs?

Hey guys, are you sure it's 15lbs and not 11lbs? I've read 11 lbs.

The dealer (whom I trust) installed new plugs in my 2002 f250 5.4 at 18ft/lbs "as per spec". No mention of anti sieze, but it was done on a cold engine. They also cleaned the plug threads in the head.
