I have a squeake every time I run over a hump, or tork the frame by turning in or out the driveway. Truck is a 97 f250HD 4x4 four door short bed.
It sounds like the front shocks top mount is rubbing the shock bushings. Anyone have this noise and what can ya do?
Common problem on these rigs. Try tightening the side fender bolts (two) on each side as shown below. They might be snug but wrench down on them real good.
Thanks .. it sounds more like a lite gauge metal squeak, more like the fender than spring bushings. I did notice when changing the front shocks that they do not line up exactly and are at a slight angke to the top shock bracket.
I will tighten the fender bolts and if it doesn't stop, lithium grease the sides of the shock bracket.
One more common problem I had when mine was new. Loosen the skid plate bolts under the TC and put a rubber shim or piece of floor mat in there. It made a loud POP on mine.
The dealer fixed mine back in '97 with a piece of floor mat.
My squeak / scrunching is loud and sounds like light gauge metal ... I just don't believe it's the spring bushings, the squeak sounds much more hollow than that.
