a guy i know ran out of fuel getting off the freeway to get fuel here in wi and had a auxilary tank in the back of his truck with offroad fuel in it so he dumped about a gal of fuel in his tank just to get him to the gas station when he got to the gas station a cop pulled in right behind him he filled up the truck about 40 gal of fuel the cop waited till he filled it then walked over to test his tank because he watched him dump the gal of fuel in and gave him a huge ticket and made him drain the tank befor he could drive the truck

They need a band wide whoop! Jeez i know what you mean but that is crazy. I am getting the cardlock for columbia fuels soon and i will have access to marked gas and diesel, reg diesel, bio diesel and lubes. Pretty decent savings and worth it in the long run for sure! Now i have to resist the urge to load the tank with marked diesel! I havent seen any checks anywhere and DOT has to see it, these guys only "reccomend" you dont.

I live in farming country. The DOT checks here once or twice a year, and some dimwhit always tries to run off road fuel. Last summer it was a guy I know. The high fuel prices where killing him last summer, so he ran off-road in his wheat truck. Very bad idea...........He paid a $10,000 fine, Court costs, attny fees, and the towing, and impound fees for his semi. It is just not worth the risk!

Sorry, I did not get the shop, auto class thing.

In theory it could be the same crime if it is indeed illegal in your state. Untaxed fuel is untaxed fuel either way.

It all varies from state to state. Here in Oregon "Homebrew" biodiesel is exempt from state taxes (.24/gal) Federal tax (.24/gal) is owed on the amount used over 400 gal/ quarter ( 3 months)

"off-road" fuel, for construction, logging, farming, etc, is TAX FREE!
