Drained system and flushed with distilled and system is ready to fill. I have G5 coolant which is pre dilluted, add 3.5 gallons and let it burp and then just top off with left over fluid to correct level?? or do I need 7 gallons of 50/50???
When I am told to fill to half the capacity, that is all I will need to put in correct? Sorry for the dumb question.
Scott
If you have flushed with distilled, then you drain, you will have about half a system full of distilled. So, you need to add 100% Ford Gold Coolant. If you were to use a 50% mix, added t the water, your overall mixture concentration would be 25%. You need to use the motorcraft gold coolant anyway. I dont know if the G5 is what you want, it might be equivalent but you have the 25% problem. If you curculated it and mixed it up, and drained and refilled again, you would still only be at ~38% and you need to be at 50% for max cooling efficiency.
So if I add the 3.5 gallons of zerex G5 that I have I wont be at 50% mixture? Can I add it today and get the other stuff next week or can I add it and just drive it like that for a while until I change it again? I am sitting here with my truck in the air contemplating what to do.
If I put the Zerex G5 in there am I going to f-up my truck for my use this week or is it ok to do it??? Somebody help me out...I cant get the Ford Gold on Sunday and the truck is empty of coolant I need to get to work in the morning
You wont ruin anything. Just add it and drive it and when you can, drain the fluid and add 100% Gold coolant. You may need to add some distilled water to get it down to 50%. It will be a bit of a math problem, depending on how much you drain.
Zerex G-05 meets OEM specs....if you have flushed the system with distilled water...you should have used something like 12-15 gallons of distilled water to completely clean everything. Once you have dumped the last time....just add three gallons of Zerex G-05...then you're all set. Keep an eye on the level and top off with distilled water.
Zerex comes in both prediluted 50/50 and 100%. You should take the 50/50 back and get the nondiluted stuff.
Maybe save a jug of the 50/50 for if you ever need to add any, in case you spring a leak in a hose or something, long after you are sure the system is completely topped off from the flush.
