Coolant Flush Questions

So I am about to do a FULL services on my 2003 F250 6.0L and I had a couple of question about the coolant flush:

1. I saw online that a guy first used 2 gallons of simple green and tap water to flush the system first, is that a good idea, I'm sure it may be over kill but the system can't be too clean?

2. Does anyone know what kind of threads are on the block coolant plugs, I will be working on the system on my dirt driveway and I was going to try and install brass on/off valves with hi temp hose attached to try and control where the fluid drains to. I'm not sure if it will work or if there is enough room on the driver side to have the fitting and the starter?

3. I heard a lot of negative comment about the ford coolant, and I was wondering what other kind of coolant you guys would recommend? I plan on flushing the coolant system every 60,000 miles and my EGR may or may not still be there if that helps

4. I saw some pictures that look like the block heater is installed into one of the block coolant plug is that correct?

5. My plan in order:
Pull petcock and L/R block plugs
Place brass valve in block plugs
Close all valves
Fill with 2 gals simple green? and tap water
Run / Drive? for 1 hour
Pull petcock and open valve
Leave open and run tap water thru for 20-30 minutes
Close all valves fill with 2qt VC-9 and tap water
Run / Drive? for 1 hour
Open all valves flush with tap water for 20-30 minutes
Pull L/R valves and replace with plugs
Fill with 50/50 coolant and distilled water

Any input will help.

I have never used a "cleaner" for a coolant flush in my 27 years of vehicle ownership. I have installed the "T" and hooked up a garden hose to flush all the coolant mix out to start with. Then I do two or three fill and drains of the system by filling it completely with distilled water, running the engine until the thermostat pops and circulates coolant (or just removing the thermostat), then pulling the left and right drain plugs to drain it out. After the last fill and drain I install a new thermostat and put in all the coolant I need (1/2 the system volume) and then fill it the rest of the way with distilled water. I run it and top off with distilled water as the bubbles work their way out of the system and carry a gallon of distilled water with me for the next couple of days and check the level to make sure I get the bubbles out.

It costs a few $$$ in water (my cooling system is an 8 gallon capacity) since I need 28 gallons to do it plus the 4 gallons of coolant. I don't know what kind of coolant your 6.0 uses, but mine uses the ELC (Extended Life Coolant) that's good for 750K miles.

Bad idea. Use my technique and you will have very clean coolant.
