i just got a 89,90,or 91 302 out off a pickup to put in my old 52 lincoln, but im a littel stumped, when i tore it down to rebuild it this thing has roller rockers. someone told me some trucks came out with HO motors. i looked for casting # on the heads and on the block and i cant find any. so if any one can shead some lite on this deal let me know.. thanks alot.. Busmonkey.
according to conanski the roller cams started in 92-87 were roller ready-not sure on the rockers though never had to tear into these ford engines like i did the chevys
93 5.0 has the roller cam and lifters. it is a ho motor 87-92 has the casting in the block, but does not have the roller cam. I think 93 was the only year, but have never been inside newer ones. if you go to jasper, or mid atlantic for a rebuilt motor, they actually say 93 only. I have a 93 ho, and it runs stronger than my 90 5.8
The first model year for the roller lifter was MY 1992 for the 5.0 in F150s . Roller lifters decrease engine friction by 7 percent and really helps MPG.
