I've been tossing around the idea of putting in the 6.0 IC, but I think I'm going to save up "a little more" and get a Spearco, or DI, IC. The 6.0 is still a good "bang for the buck" mod. I just want the added insurance.
You need to change one boot. I believe it's a 3 1/2" tapered to 3". I have one sitting out there if you'd like me to measure it...
Maybe that would be a good idea. However, during research the plastic end tank trucks could go either way from what I saw, maybe I got confused. I just want to have what I need on hand of course. It was also difficult to get a good measurement down in the truck of what I had. I guess I could just take the boots off and see how the fit on the new intercooler to know for sure. Duh.
great write up! what all are the benifits fro the 6.0 inter cooler?
I did it for the EGT temp drop for towing.I have a 100° difference with the 6.0 IC.

If I get over 35psi then I will be looking at a DI or spearco .This works great for me right now.
Was this a good upgrade? Yes! How much did it cost? $100 for the IC boots and $200 for the 6.0 IC $300 all total.Driving results,it droped my EGT 100° and with the new boots I can now hit 28lbs of boost at WFO,compared to the 24lbs I was at before.
Edit:Also when the IC is out take a air hose and blow out the dust and dirt built up on the radiator.
I know this has been done before, but a little more info doesn't hurt.
Nice writeup, I have one sitting here but I have to get a different trans cooler or modify my existing one so I haven't done it yet. I'm also have a hard time getting measurements on my current one to figure out what size boots I need, apparently there is some variation.
These are the boots you will need for the swap. Click on the links to veiw.
