Need your help...My 2003 Ford Expedition XLT has is stalling at normal speeds (50-65mph), and now also while idling. When I am driving along it suddenly feels like it isn't getting gas, sometimes it will "kick back in" and drive normally or it eventually stalls. After stalling the truck sometimes restarts right away, other times it takes several attempts to restart the engine. However, no codes have ever shown up on the computer. The truck was taken to the shop where they let it run until it "died" and were able to get a fuel pressure reading and ended up replacing the fuel pump. However, despite that repair the problem persisted and the car went back to the shop at which time the shop couldn't get it to stall so they replaced some relay switches and cleared the computer. Well, I just got the car out of the shop and you guessed it...still having the same problem...Anyone have an idea on what the problem is? I really love my truck and don't want to have to trade it in. The mechanic is concerned because to date a program code has yet to show up. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->
Wow... I am having the same issue right now and have been replacing things left and right and nothing seems to work. Did you find a fix? I am looking at the following things next: transmission range sensor, fuel pump module and upstream 02 sensor.
Thanks in advance... this is really getting on my nerves and starting to worry me.
transmission range sensor, fuel pump module and upstream 02 sensor.
Both the tranny and the O2 sensors will not cause the stalling, so you can save your money on those two parts. The fuel pump module is a possibility; however, when that acts up the engine starves for gas. Meaning there will usually be a trouble code for one thing or another that gets set.
I will check out the crank sensor too. I didn't think that the transmission range sensor would cause stalling either but I have a service printout where there have been cases in which the sensor and/or the connector caused stalling. The problem is that all of those cases were found because a code was thrown. This truck has not thrown a single code. I had a code reader hooked up while we were driving, it stalled and nothing was reported.
Start your own thread and post your symptoms along with the vehicle specifics, model, year, engine, etc.. That's the best way to get help with your specific issue.
