Check engine light - trouble codes???
I had my 05 F250 6.0 scanned today for a check engine light. Came up with 2 codes...P0299 & P2290. Does anyone know what they mean and what would make them come on? p0299 is a underboost/overboost code, p2290 is an icp circuit code. Have you had any power or boost issues? Or any hard starts or surging?
P2290 actually means icp was too low at some point during the drive cycle

turbo underboost = ****ty day. if you have a scan tool that will monitor pids check your vgt percentage. if it drops really low (below 35%) at WOT than you have a sticking turbo. then you have to take it off, seperate it and clean the hell out of it and make sure your unison ring is still good.

is this something that would be covered under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty? my truck has 49k on it

Yes, take it in and let Ford pay for it. Of course you will have to tell them what codes you had since you had them erased.

A P0299 Turbo Underboost code can set by numerous causes, namely a leak on the intake side between the turbo, charge air cooler and intake, a biased or improperly functioning EBP sensor, a leak on the exhaust side between the exhaust manifold and turbo up-pipe to the turbo, a restricted exhaust or restricted (plugged up) intake and a stuck VGT unison ring. Now your job is to pinpoint which of the above is causing the code to set.

On the oasis report on my truck has the same trouble code and here is what was done to repair it........Replaced EGR valve and ran VPS test remove turbo and check vanes, vanes was stuck had to replace char on turbo and tested ok.
Have no idea what char means.
