Most people think of Oregon as wet, but almost 2/3 of the state is desert. We make up for it in solitude though!

We actually have 3 mountain ranges running north to south. The coast range is fairly low and the rain goes over it into the Willamette Valley. Then the Cascade Range blocks most of the rain from coming over where I am. Finally the Blue Mountains catch the rain again. I love living in the High Desert...............

This is what I mean by solitude! This is where I live................

WOW, very nice place you have.

So if you gotta go, you don't worry about where, right?

The Willamette valley has been real nice weather wise lately, but I prefer the high country in the Cascades..........Cant beat the scenery and solitude!

Front and back porch are fair game! Nearest neighbors............one 6 miles north, and one 5 miles south Just right for a grumpy old fart like me!

Dave lives on the wet westside. Nothing much to see there but moss................................

Yeah, its pretty wet in winter over here............But sagebrush and dust get tiresome too!
And I am only 35min. from 3 - 10,000ft extinct volcanoes, and the Mc Kenzie river is just 1/2 mile away.

Come on Dave, you are old enough to know there are no "extinct", only "dormant" volcanoes. I mean, mean, you're not old, but old enough to know better.....ah hell, I give up, I'm just digging a hole here aint I.

If you remember, a couple a years ago they were talking about a "bulge" on the south slope of the South Sister that the USGS found.........If one of them ever goes, I am headed west in a BIG hurry!. The whole McKenzie valley is at risk for mud/ash flows.
