just fine so far! just been workin' out in yard and looking for a job! ok the job thing isn't happening!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear ya, Jack!...Nothing here either..............I guess America does not need mfg. jobs anymore, we will just live off the guberment and sell each other hamburgers. Weather down here is FANTASTIC!, too bad I cant seem to enjoy it anymore.
dave,
i worked alot of years for it! and now its gone!!!!
I dont know how to say anything that can make you feel better, thats a low blow to a mans pride. I feel for ya, Jack, that hurts.................Hang in there, something has got to kick loose.
Me too, Jack, me too.............I am having a garage sale this wknd, and it isnt just to clear out the garage, I need the money to cover some bills! I guess we figured wrong when we thought hard work and our skills were gonna get us thru, I have never seen the job market this bad......Enough to make a guy lose hope sometimes.
Guys all I can say is, I'll pray for you both to get some works of some kind. What's your specialties maybe we here at the Oregon chapter can keep an ear open for you. Listen up people members in need of work. If your in their area and here of something don't keep it a secret.
There are some jobs in this area too. Houses pretty reasonably priced too. I'm with Don, it's hard to pack up, but I know when I was younger, we moved to where the work was at. I hope things pan out for you guys. At the rate things are going, it's gonna be getting alot tougher for many more folks. They say recession, I say BS, looks pretty depressing to me. Keep the chins up, don't be one of them statistics that does him self in for not being to handle it when it gets tough. We're all looking out for you. For sure, post what kind of work you do. That may be of some assistance in keeping the ears open for job openings.
Thanks guys!.......I am too settled here to move, I got elderly folks to keep an eye on.
I believe Jack is a ASE certified mechanic?..Not sure.
At the time of plant closure, I WAS a IMM millwright apprentice, but have much more experience running machine centers and forklifts in a mill. Lots of heavy machinery assembly as well..................I was a company man and put in loads of OT. In the end, I guess us hard workin' guys were just expendable assets for the company, and no one wants to mfg. anything in America anymore.......Practicing for my new career path,...... "You want fries with that?"
You know, the Government spent a lot of money on me. Training me how to jump out the side of helicopters, and out the back of planes. I was trained to shoot long distances, and stop lead vehicles in enemy convoys. I got medically discharged, and all I could do when returning home, was get a job at McDonalds. I worked there for 6 months, until the lady that had the catering shop across from my mom and dads store needed help. I spent another 8 months doing that. I have yet to be able to put any of that training and experience to use. I have some college in the automotive field. Iwas pursuing a degree in Automotive design and engineering, as well as all aspects of automotive service and repair, from tires to paint. I still do not have a job at a large automotive corporation (wouldn't want one now anyway) and I have yet to have my own shop building special order rigs for people. It aint easy. All we can do is hang on and enjoy the ride.

I know, Jack!... I have filled out more than I can count, on paper and computer, nobody even gives you a "dear, john" letter........Theres a few jobs out there, if you can survive on minimum wage.................I sure cant.
