Dad. Most kids around here can't operate equipment very well either. I can. Therefore I pull in more than 8 an hour. I'll be replacing a guy who was making $30/hr. I'm a freaking bargain. And I'm easier on the equipment.
Other guy running the screen: burns through a hydraulic motor, breaks some hydraulic hoses, fills up the belt under the drum so that it can't move, stalls out the drum motors and then I have to shovel the drum out because he had a screwed up back.
I ran it for 2 weeks straight last summer running 50+ hours a week and only had one hyd motor break and it's the weak link on the machine. Dad had the same problem. And now I know to look for it.
Now...if the equipment breaks...do you have to fix it??? That gives one a whole new perspective on care of the stuff.
When I was operating equipment...many...many...many...years ago...the pay wasn't any where near what it is today!!!
Saawx/Yankmees from Fenway on the tube now...you watching???

I think of you as I read about all the dealerships that are closing.
Flooding the market with steeply discounted vehicles, and then where do their employees find work?
Fortunately...I work for a well capitalized dealer...and...with the addition of 'Yota...we have plenty of traffic. New vehicle sales are about three to one...'Yota...my new sales are about two to one 'Yota. The Ford business has picked up considerably in the past 60 days...and...I believe they will double before the end of the year!!!
You've hot on one of my hot buttons vis a vis the auto industry bail out. While the companies will survive...there are literally hundreds of thousands of people who are going to be thrust out of work. GM is closing approximately 1500 dealerships...and...14 or so plants. Chrysler is closign 800+/- dealerships...and some plants. Not only are those people out of work...the ancillary businesses are laying off/closing. What about the companies who supply the automotive industry??? What is the Obama administration going to do to help those people???

I don't *have* to fix it, but I usually do. I'm the kind of person who can't stand to sit around when there's work that needs doing and I absolutely HATE watching other people work when I'm capable of helping in some way.
And yea I'm watching the game now.
Brian: I think he's good on help for now, but if he makes mention of anything I'll let ya know.

Reminds me of the Gomer Pile USMC television series, where the sergeant regularly had Gomer moving the pile of dirt just for the exercise in it.
lol haha
thry clearing out a 6 foot tall cone crusher that is overflowing with rocks. clay got into it and basically turned to cement. that was a b***h to clean out by hand. we ended up laying on the conveyor (legs facing the top of the conveyor) and reaching up into the underside of the crusher knocking clay off with a piece of rebar and a few other toolsl. 8+ hours later and it was cleared out.
