So i am wanting to put headers on my 77 but i am not sure what i gotta do to get them on and ii dont know if it is a job i can tackle myself. I know there are a couple guys on here with similar trucks, what do i have to do to get headers on my 400?
Check in the yellow pages for supplies such as local speed shops, Canadian Tire, Tiger Automotive, etc. When you find a set they should be able to walk you thru the installation, you can decide if you want to tackle it yourself or get some place like Comp Muffler to do it.
I have put headers on a few trucks and it hasn't been hard at all. You might want to go ask this question in the 73 79 forums, someone there would know for sure.
well im pretty sure i can do it pretty easily all the parts are off already and the motor is pulled too but i was just checking maybe there was some kind of secret way of puttin them in so they fit right. I know a buddy of mine had an old car we tried putting headers on and there was a certain precedure you HAD to follow to make it work lol
i put some on the '83 F150 i had with the 351W... you can do it. you'll want to tack the gaskets on to the headers a couple of hours before installation so that they stay in the right place when installing them!!
