good, cheap headers

i was lookin at summit racing's selection of headers and for $180 you can get heddman hedders, they dropped their own brand for $125 (wich i was gonna get) go basically what headers do you reccomend that wont break my daily driver budget?

well.....you do kinda get what you pay for.

sealing issues.

a lot more noise

and eventually a burn thru/rust thru at the collector

if your stock manifolds arent cracked and falling apart dont do headers till you plan on doing the rest of the exhaust.

Well im doing a slow stroker swap, start with a freshened junkyard 351 (just clean up what needs to be reworked) and turn it into a torquey 408, so im looking for a handicap when its in the 351 stage. I live in nevada so there is a very small chance for rust, and my metals teacher who races VW bugs in the dirt says the cheap headers are just as good as the expensive ones if your comparing apples to apples (1-1/2" to 1-1/2" or 1-5/8" to 1-5/8") with the exception of the mounting flange. btw im reworking my single exhaust for the dual setup when the 351 goes in. So where can i get a cheap set of headers for now? nothing special, ill find a cheap coating/paint that will withstand the temps.
