Its been a LONG time since i have bought tires. I haven't decided if i want to run 285's or 295's. i don't want them to rub. My main question is: Are White letters out not the thing anymore?. Was looking at various vehicles going down the road the other day and didn't noticed the white walls anymore. Did tire manufactures stop painting the letters? My ranger i had before the truck were already mounted with new tires that way and never had to change them. Truck before that, it was the thing to do back then
Yeah, I think the white wall is out. I still see bf goodrich around here with the white lettering out though. I'm going to buy some open country mt and I don't think I have ever seen a set with white on them. I liked my bf's back in the day with the lettering out. Every time I washed my truck I would take a scrub brush and some Ajax and make them shine .
Now I think about it... Bf all terains 305/65 18's are going to be a contender along with the toyo's when I'm ready(should be soon).
I always put OWL tires with the OWL facing outwards. I shouldn't though because in short time they are really grungy and I don't want to clean them because I'll dirty them back up in short order. I guess either way works, just ask yourself, "self, do i want to clean my white letters on my tires?"
haha
yes i mean white letters. i wrote both in my orginal post. sorry for the confusion. i have always been a fan of them. my buddy said there not cool anymore. thanks for the pictures. gives me more of a comparison. currently the truck has black letters
I guess its whatever floats your boat. These white trucks look pretty good with the white lettering out. I'll keep my BW out for less scrubbing purposes.
I'll always keep my OWLs out. I guess I'm old school. My 'stang had Eagle GTIIs with the RWLs out, and I liked 'em then too. It was black with a black conv top. You can kinda see 'em here:
i have Mud king XL's with the white lettering out, it looks real sharp and they don't get very grungy. My truck is "strawberry" red and they look good, but there only 265's....
