gp shot?

gp shot?

my wts light comes on and stays on for 10-15 seconds then shut off.. and no clicking is a gp shot or the controller and help would be great..

My guess would be the controller, but i dont know for sure. Im certain someone else knows for sure.

ha now wts light stays on for 25 seconds then no clicking ...also truck has a hard time starting when cold, starts fine when hot. any info would be great as im making a pick a part run 2morrow. thanx

i have no idea whats in it i assume their as old as the truck maybe changed?

There is a black wire from the controller under the relay that is usually under one of the mounting bolts.

Remove which ever bolt it is under and make sure the connection is good.



CAUTION, the battery terminal has battery voltage at all times, the ignition terminal has battery voltage when the key is in run position.
Use care working with metal tools around the relay unless the batteries are unhooked.
Big sparks if you ground it out.

thanx dave ill have a look..i got it to warm up with a gas soaked rag (dunno if this is safe or not used to start an old tractor that way haha) seemed to work fine after it was warm.

thanx for the info guys i did the old test light test and i have 6 dead plugs haha... off to the stealership. anyone have the torque specs for the gps?

Should be 12lbf-ft, at least that's what it says for my 88 7.3. Remember, Motorcraft Beru ONLY. I don't know about you but I would still test them out of the box just for piece of mind and future reference.

Ohm meter. Test between the terminal and base. Should read .5 to 1.0ohm.

You can still use a test light, it just takes a battery.

Just touch the threaded/hex part to the neg terminal of the battery, test light to positive and the GP terminal.

It might get a little warm though...
