But how do you guys really feel?
Seriously, thanks for the feedback. Bill11012, can't do an F150 because I need front end that can handle my Power V snow plow in winter. I know, I know...yet another reason to get a 6.8 and low rear end. I'm just also thinking of the many miles I'll be logging without trailer or plow too. ANd 5-buck gas some day.
Everyone else ignored it. I ignored it. Was several days ago. I started this thread just looking for some input weather I should have gone with the V10 instead of V8. If youll notice I never even asked anything about the PSD... I cant afford an XLT package let alone a 7 grand for a diesel I have no real use for. If you want to debate the PSD do it on another thread please, it has no place here.
And for those of you who havent read all the way through I did call back an opt for the V10. Scheduled to build week of June 22 was the last word. Can't stand the wait! BTW the last date to order an 09 I think has past,a couple weeks ago now.
It's unfortunate, but every time there's a thread on "which is the better engine?" this long standing debate arises... as in every aspect of life, you have to filter out the "noise" to glean the facts. This thread is no different.
Fla-Gyp:Curious, how much does your trailer weigh? I'm getting a 23' Airstream that's 6,000 lbs and am hoping the 5.4 Triton will pull it easily. Why do you think you'll get better mileage with the V-10? It requires a 4.10 rear end and the 5.4 can be had with a 3.73. I'm about to order a new F250 and this is the final decision: V-10 vs V-8 and related MPG. Even +2MPH or so will make a big diff over life of the rig.
I tow a 8.5-9k lb trailer (32') with my 5.4/3.73 here all over Florida. It does an admirable job for a small engine. When I get my 6.8/4.10 I expect to lose 1 mpg around town but gain when towing, how much I am not sure. It works hard off the line but is fine at speed. It likes to settle in around 60-65 mph. At that speed it handles great but does not like hills. The Torqshift auto really makes a difference compared to my former 03 5.4/3.73 4-spd auto.
