I'd keep a 40k truck stock until the warranty ran out...V10 has plenty of power. To each his own
the super chip does not void the warranty and gives more mpg's ( you pull it before you take it to the dealer)
the brush guard and ranch bumper stops dings and scratches.
the K&N filter gives more mpg's and is washable so it lasts for life ( the savings really add up!)

Reason: i felt like it
here's my 2 cents.. 1 year ago i traded a 7.3 diesel (should have kept her) I got a V10 F250 4x4 short. i haul things a couple time a month maybe. I got tired of 10 in town and 12.5 on the road. So, i traded and got a 6.4L diesel. MPG's are a lil better. Now, for me i would have kept the 5.4L if your only hauling occasionally. You would have gotten bout 1.5mpg better based on a friend of mine that had an F250 V8 and I had a V10... sounds like you have changed so ill tell you the V10 is a tank of an engine and will pull a house....
if you are gentle you can get 12.5 in town and 15 on the highway
and yes it will pull a house!
no really you could move a mobile home with that beast!
i have not seen it doen with a 6.8 but my grandad did pull one with a t19 4.11 f350 duely with a 305.
it never seemed to run right after that ...

Plant was shut down for the last week of April and first 2 weeks of May. They were building Expeditions but not Super Duty's. 2010 Order bank opened May 13th. Though the order bank opens for 2011 in October, Job 1 isn't until Feb. Seems like the same thing they did for the 2008 year...which started in 2007.

ffdemoss- think you meant order bank for 2010?
As an aside, can't believe trucks ordered in March still haven't been built. Was there a plant shut down? The suspense must be killing you bud. Well, the wait's nearly over
My 2005 V10 with a 4.10LS and Torqshift has never even seen 14MPG on the highway let alone 15...I am very satisfied if I get 13MPG.
Great truck and is worth every gallon of fuel. I am excited to see what ford can do to bump mileage up on their upcoming SD models but no one buys these trucks for fuel economy.
Last weekend I towed 11k and got 7.4MPG. Add the ~7K curb weight of the truck and we were at 18k lbs. Not bad for 7.4MPG.
Buy the truck you need. There is nothing more worthless than a truck that can't be used as such because the buyer is more worried about fuel economy than anything else. That is what they make Escapes and Corollas for.
You will enjoy the V10 and the truck. Congratulations.
My V-10 with 4.30's and auto does just as well on gas as my V-8 with 3.73's and a stick. The V-10 is a beast while the V8 is barely adequate unless you're very patient. Call the dealer and change the order to a V-10.

that is not bad. the most i have towed for a tank-full long distance is 14K ( 7k for pay load and 7k for truck) in hills with my 4R100 3.73 2v 6.8 and i got 10.5.it is a great engine. ford could not have done much better!
I tried to order an '09 250 and word is they quit building them and are in process of switching over to 2010's. Was going for the Dark Stone color but they discontinued that for '10. Does anyone know where I can find 2010 build/order specs? Dealer is no help. Need to decide on V-10 vs V-8 too; mine will be SuperCrew, short bed.
