Awesome Tristan! You'll be much happier with the V10 engine.
As for taking orders this late in the year, it's probably because they have a lot of 2009's (and even 2008's) still on the lot and will delay the release of the 2010's until the inventory is significantly reduced. So, they might as well extend the custom order process until they start manufacturing the 2010's.
I hope your truck gets picked up. I am pretty sure the last day to order a 2009 was May 15th and the last day to change an order was May20th. In fact, the order bank for the 2011 Super Duty will open in October. 2010 will be a short run...last build date in Feb. 2010. I ordered my truck March 20th and build date was this week. Delivery is first week of June. Your dealer should know by tomorrow as they get their order sheet on Fridays I believe.

I just hope gas doesnt go back up to $5 a gallon or I will be finding an old beater! I havent driven a car in years... wifes got a nice Lexus RX300 which we got a great deal on used, but for being a fairly small compact SUV the thing only gets 19-21mpg, not really much better than my F150 even. At least I wont have any issues now when I get a camper trailer or hauling my ol bronco around.

Can't speak to your info but my dealer eagerly took my custom order and told me it would be no problem on May 11 and said it would be 6-8 weeks to delivery. He also said the truck assembly plant will shut down in July. I expect a VIN number shortly.
Awesome decision Tristan. You'd have been thinking the whole time "wonder what the V10s like," but now you'll sleep well.
ffdemoss- think you meant order bank for 2010?
As an aside, can't believe trucks ordered in March still haven't been built. Was there a plant shut down? The suspense must be killing you bud. Well, the wait's nearly over
I would be tempted to purchase a cheap commuter car to keep the miles off the new SD. You can find reliable (yet undesirable) cars like the older Ford Taurus's in the $2K-$4K range that will get 22-25mpg on the hwy. You'll save 10K miles per year on the new SD and that truck will last for 20 years.
it will last to 1,000,000 miles with care so why not just injoy the F350? I have an 83 F350 with 416,000 on it.

ok nice man!! you will love it!!! now superchip it get an after market brush gaurd, back bumper and a K&N air filter and have fun!!!!!
here's my 2 cents.. 1 year ago i traded a 7.3 diesel (should have kept her) I got a V10 F250 4x4 short. i haul things a couple time a month maybe. I got tired of 10 in town and 12.5 on the road. So, i traded and got a 6.4L diesel. MPG's are a lil better. Now, for me i would have kept the 5.4L if your only hauling occasionally. You would have gotten bout 1.5mpg better based on a friend of mine that had an F250 V8 and I had a V10... sounds like you have changed so ill tell you the V10 is a tank of an engine and will pull a house....
Sorry for somany replies here but there were a few I wanted to comment on:

I might just have to steal that line from you... or at least quote it in my sig!

Actually like I said earlier it was only about a $300 option really, since I was opting for the 4.10 gears with the 5.4 for an additional $300 but they come standard with the V10 so I pay the $600 for the motor option but get the $300 gears free.

I didnt get that at first. Now I do LOL. And if not getting the V8 earns you a smack to the head I wonder what not getting the V10 would get me! Maybe a drop kick to the head. OK that was probably lame, sorry...

Well if thats true I'm screwed. No disrespect but I hope your wrong, or ford at least takes the stragglers. But if it doesnt get picked up... I'll start hunting for the elusive used stick shift truck.

I am with you there 100% I know most folks like to keep the mileage down, probably trade in every 3-5 years, etc, but unless gas hits the 5$ mark again its going to be my daily driver. At least most my driving is highway, and my 'local' driving is still rural. And from what I hear when towing the mpg wont really be any diff than the V8. And I wont be struggling as much either.

Well I've already been planning on several upgrades. Had a year to think about it, just couldnt get a truck since I had a house sitting on the market forever. Plan on an aftermarket bumpers like perhaps Iron Bull or there was another I forget the name off hand, harley grill and headlights if I can find em, some 35's on nice wheels perhaps, Line-X (maybe even on the bumper, fender flares, and along the bottom of the sides...) lots of ideas... but I'll take my time and do the research (after I get the truck if I do). I wont be doing anything that would void the warranty until its up though of course so that could postpone some things for a while.
Thanks again everyone for all the help. These forums have been great to me for years. I've browsed the SD forum for the last couple years just in prep for finally getting one... and hopefully thats soon now.
