Cool 1981 f100 starting problem

I recently got my old truck out of storage and I have a problem starting it. I replaced 99 % of charging and starting system everything from key switch to alt. and starter and still one time it will start and the next it wont and solenoid clicks and I hook battery cables up and she fires right off. I'm at my last nerve with this truck, The only thing I can think of next is a body ground but I don't know where they are all at.

So it starts if you jump it? is the battery new? If the solenoid clicks then you are getting power from the ign switch.if you have a test light or way better a voltmeter check for power to the starter while trying to crank.

My 81 F100 was doing about the same thing about a month ago and I was able to jump it off with no problem or push it and crank with the clutch. At first I thought my solenoid was to blame so I tested it out and could not find a problem. Next I thought must be the battery going but it also checked good. Then I turned my attention to the battery post and the cables themselves and found there was very little contact surface still making contact. I cleaned the post until shiny and the cables also where they mate together and also used some of that battery post gel put it all back together and has not failed to crank since. Just my experience with mine cranking sometimes and other times not maybe it will help. By the way the solenoid was always pulling in when mine would do this is why I thought it was the solenoid. Just turned out to be the bad connection between the cables and the battery.

NEVER underestimate the importance of a good cable/battery conenction. Lead oxide is a poor conductor. thats why they use lead - clean to shiny (without breathing the dust or else you kill brain cells) and torque down hard such that the lead surfaces gald to each other.
