Driving the truck today I noticed mssg from info on dash
" problem with trailer wiring". I wasn't hauling anything.
the mssg went away on my next stop when truck was turned off.
On my next stop I was pulling into a parking space truck stalled and
I saw another mssg saying something like " please pull over safely and
stop truck." Luckily i was already parked.
truck would not start or even turn over.
after about an hour truck started but brake symbol was on dash.
Bubba, the trailer mssg went away and was replaced with
the brake symbol.
I will take it to the shop to pull codes. i wonder if brake system
need lots of vacuum like the 7.3 does.
The trailer electric connecttions by the ball have no caps to keep
them dry, and i wonder if that could cause the brake symbol to come on
Water in the connections can cause all kinds of issues. You can try blowing it out with compressed air.
Diesels do not produce vacuum. They have a vac pump to run the HVAC controls and 4wd thats about it up untill late 08-09?. Diesels use hydroboost for the brakes since there is no vacuum to power a brake booster. Its been that way since the 6.9L to the 2010 models. I know the early 6.4 trucks had it, im not sure about the later 6.4s/6.7's
l
fast forward on stall problem:the symbol on the message center
was the engine symbol, indicating emissions problem.
Truck stalled again. Engine symbol appeared. Pulled codes,
one or more sensors on cat convertor indicate sensors too hot.
suspect possible diesei fuel too much sulfer. went to a different
gas stationlast fillup, and was reading in owners manual problems
if over a certain level [15 ppm] ?
note : truck wil restart after about an hour cooling off.
