Just driving down the road on a hot day my temp guage reads 200-205*. My factory guage sits right in the middle of the range. When my guage read 235* while towing 14k on a hot day at 50 mph, the truck did not defuel, I backed off the pedal. The factory guage still sat in the middle range. I realize all trucks are different and appreciate the information you are giving, I just want to make sure if I have a problem I get it taken care of. Also, my guage reads around 215-218 while towing 2500 to 3500 lbs on a 85* day. If I do have a cooling issue what possibilities could it be??

Did your fan kick on at the high temps? It sounds like you either have an inaccurate factory temperature element or the aftermarket one is inaccurate. Clearly your PCM did not think you got to 235. Where is your aftermarket probe for coolant temperature located?

There are many root causes to cooling problems - some are:
- easy things like the radiator being clogged with dirt, grass, bugs, etc.
- the lower hose could collapse due to age and heat and restrict flow
- low coolant levels can be an issue (from leaks or flash boiling)
- there have been many cases of the water pump impellors coming loose
- use of the wrong coolant can cause solids to form and plug things
- could have a bad thermostat (although I think this is rare)
- bad things like leaking head gaskets or EGR cooler can cause overheating.

It is spliced in with the sensor on the front left corner of the block. It is electrical and uses the factory sensor to give me a digital read.

So its only as accurate as your factory probe then...

I don't know that I would put it that way. There is a lot of range on the digital display and the factory needle never moves. Same with the boost pressure. It reads faster than the factory guage does, and it is tied into the map sensor.

I agree your setup is more accurate than factory gauges but I dont know how quality the factory sensors are?? It could be excellent, i'm just saying your reading is only as good as the factory sensors accuracy.

Im looking at this chart, and the only thing that confuses me is the oil press.... Im assuming that this means on the " Low pressure" side, right??? Also, really, 12 psi is normal for regular operation of a 6.0????
