Ford why do you govern your stupid trucks

Well, since we are OT and beating this horse too...
I was around in the '60s and read the mags and went to the drags, so I'm not making all this up and I remember it pretty well. First of all, with 3.25s and 28 inch tires, 180 mph takes 7020 rpm. NONE of those cars would go anywhere close to 180 off the showroom floor. By the time the Talledega etc came around, NASCAR cars were pretty much stock sheet metal, but had rollcages that stiffend the chassis, were lowered, suspension modified or completely replaced and a host of other items on top of 'radio and heater delete'. Plus they had "Boss" 429s & maybe still some 427 solid lifter engines, not the (relative) wheezer 428.
I'm not sure what a Boss 302 pulled G wise, but it was probably more than that 428 model. With respect to that, note the Mustang, on new radials, pulled almost the same G as the Corvette on older designed tires. Since the Boss had 60 series tires that were about 2 inches wider than the 70s, it probably pulled something close to .70. Keep in mind the Corvette, which I believe would out corner even a Boss 302, only pulled a .69 on those old tires.
The Boss 429 is probably the best example of a detuned for street use engine. Part of the plan there was to sell enough to qualify it for NASCAR. 13.7s IIRC with slicks--of course, the greasy hard slicks of 1970, so 11.2 on newer tires would make sense.
Hey, not disagreeing with you here on everything, but nothing ran 180 out the showroom door. However, I think a Super Duty ought to be allowed to run 180 if the driver needs to go that fast. KmH or MPH, take your pick.

Thanks! It's a Warn HD winch bumper. I bought it from Amazon...
It was $500 less when I bought it though.

Amazon is weird like that. If you watch it and wait a few weeks, the price will go down again. I bought my Recon Smoked Cab Lights from them and they were listed as $32, but when I went to buy them they were $45, so I waited a week or so and they went down to $32.

Which is why the price will change for no apparent reason.

Hey, I gotta question: You blank me for going OT slightly with another poster, both of us talking about top speed, which, IIRC, is what started this whole thing, and now your are conversing about a bumper?????
Just wondering.
With that bumper, will your '98 one ton go 180mph?
