2008 Rear Diff Cover
Just ordered mine from FTE Parts Guy... Since it's come up a few times, I figured I'd post this up. Oddly enough, mine started leaking a couple weeks ago, so this is excellent timing.

Yeah, I know. I'm going to pull one out of the top of mine and find some that are a bit longer...

Sandblast it and clearcoat it Joe.I wish I did that to mine,it looks like chit now after a year on the truck.

Good idea -- I did that to another aluminum part I worked on (non-truck related) and it looks good 5 years later...

Sounds good.. Here is the exact size just FYI and for anyone else that plans to do this swap..
Bolts: Stainless hex head 5/16-18 x 1 1/4 inch long. Use stainless lock washer. Blue locktite to 20 ft/lbs. Seal with International Grey RTV sealant.

Excellent info -- thanks!!! I was hoping someone would post the bolt lengths. I'll probably use Permatex. Hasn't failed me yet...

I'll probably do the bead-blast thing and clear-coat it. I did that on a different project with aluminum parts that sit outside and it still looks great! Although I painted it with Ford Gray engine paint. They make it in clear as well, so that's probably what I'll use. I like the look of the plain aluminum cover.

Does it hold anymore oil with this cover or are the fins the only thing different?
