Hi all, I am new to the forum and am looking for your thoughts. I am from Perth Western Australia and have a 2002 7.3ltr powerstroke 4x4 auto F250 with 160,000km on the clock. I have only had the truck about a month. I had test driven only one other F250 before I purchased this one. This one feels as though it is a bit sluggish on take off, almost as though the turbo is lagging. Once she is going, it is ok. I have just purchased an edge evolution EEF1000 to re-programme it. Is there anything I should know or be careful about before I use it? Has any one had any experience with similar?
Ive used one on my 99 F350 superduty on level one mainly to adjust the tranmission pressures (its an auto) and a Edge Juice with Attitude on top of that they arent too bad in the newer years like that but Edge customer service is almost non-existant. I had an evolution for my 96 and it kept causing problems with the computer and it would have to be reflashed almost everytime I tried to adjust the program. The biggest thing to be concerned with in that year is if your running a automatic transmission that is your weak point. So if your doing any heavy towing with it the tranny will pay for it, and have to be rebuilt or replaced sooner than later. Note these are not designed to be used on a setting higher than towing if you are actually towin as the can cause engine damage from heat. Also make sure you get gauges to monitor your tranny fluid temp and exhaust gas temperatures with those as it will make the engine run hotter and if it gets too hot usually from towing it can cause your pistons to melt if run too hot for too long. Also from my experience in australia you might want to look into changing your air intake to something that might do a better job of filtering the dust, because if you have too much restriction in your air filter it will also cause slower spool up and acceleration. Otherwise if you dont meet the criteria of driving aroun in the dust or do lots of towing go ahead and turn it up and have fun, just remember your tranny if its an auto. Good luck.
Thanks mate! I don't tow anything at this stage and wouldn't want to turn it up more than one in any case. Before I do anything, I think I might find out where I can get the computer re-flashed in case I want to change it back to stock and I have a problem.
