Brake Squeal
Brake Squeal
I have an 07 250psd Crew Cab with 45K miles on it. The brakes have been squealing for about the last 10K miles. I had the dealer look at them when I had my last oil change and they said all was good. Help me stop this incessant and teeth grinding sound!!
Try beding the pads. 3 stops from 15 to 5 mph, 3 stops from 30 to 5mph and 3 stops from 50-5mph. You don't want to come to a complete stop, but the idea is to suddenly go from speed to a crawl and get the brakes very hot. This transfers some of the pad material to the rotor so you aren't applying pads directly to metal.
Yes sir,,,for the last 500 miles my 06' F-350 witch today turned 43k,,,,rear pass side brake been squealing,,kinda embarassing when in a line of traffic.
Going to jack it up and pull it down,, check it out,,rotors look fine,,pads do too from the outside when I changed to my summer tires about a month ago now.
Prob try the Bedding method after.

get some anti-squeal...it will require removing the pads to paint it on though. It goes on the back side of the pads where the caliper piston comes in contact.
Mine are doing the same. Plenty of pad left, just squealing. They are glazed over due to some towing without trailer brakes. Im at 50k on the original set and have had a set behind the back seat for 8 months, guess i am just going to slap em on.
Some pads have metal squealers for when they get too worn but it sounds like yours are ok. I would try a different brand next time and ask for anti squeal that goes behind the pads. Or do it your self now??? That stuff isolates the pad from the puck so it won't resonate.
The stuff we used to use come from a porshe background and it was basically a really high temp rubber cement. It stuck the pads to the caliper/piston. The rattle was less of a squeal but it doesn't hurt to try it.
