so i see no one else metioned, these trucks were always good for the eec and fuel pump relays sticking on and killing the battery and those pigtails are usually in need of replacement too . very very common issue. i knew mine was bad in my old 91 when i was doing something near the rear of the truck and i heard the fuel pump kick on .
Very good point on the EEC relay, if it's stuck closed it will keep the PCM powered up & run the battery dead.
I was thinking this would keep the check engine light lit. But now that I think about it the CEL will probably time out & go off after a few minutes. But the PCM will still be draining the battery.
dbandgb hook your fuse links back up and yank the EEC relay out & see if your test light goes dim.
Today i pulled one relay at atime & tested for the short. When i pulled the eec or eeg,( i forgot what it said ) relay my short went away. I guess it is time to buy a new one. You guys are great, thanks
