Tail gate cap

I've damaged the plastic tailgate cap (protector might be a better term) that wraps around the top and have to buy a new one from my "friendly" Ford dealer. How do I remove this damaged one - does it have clips of some sort like the side caps??

Yep, kind like the side caps. It may be easier if you pull the access panel off in order to get at the clips from behind.

I wonder if an '08 tailgate cap will fit?

Check with Ed, the FTE parts guy.

Thanks for the response. Kinda thought that's how they fit on --- and yep, now that you reminded me, I will contact Ed.

I would bet that anything ~'97 to current is about the same.

I just bought some DeeZee diamond plate bed rail caps and tail gate cap for $107 shipped. The tailgate cap was $32. They come in brite aluminum and black powder coat. I'm going to have them line-x'd when i spray the bed.
