cap / topper window swap
Question: Has anyone swapped or changed side windows in a 70s Ford
cap / topper? I have a damaged deluxe cap in my yard, and a
standard cap on our F-150. Has anyone swapped the side windows
without causing damage to the fiberglass or the window?
Who sells new rubber seals?

I don't know about the replacement seals but the glass pops out just like any other glass in your truck. I had someone inside push out carefully and worked the seal with a cotter pin removal tool.
Heck I think I removed all of the glass by myself. Never have any help any other day.

I've owned 2 standard toppers and 1 deluxe and have removed the windows, seals, in both for swapping and/or restoration reasons. I have not had any problems with removing all of the components nor reinstalling them by myself. I have to take my time and be careful so as not to damage anything and I've also taken pics as I went along, so I can recall how it all goes back together (getting old and can't remember like I used to). The standard shell window seals won't work for the deluxe as it doesn't have the groove in it for the alum trim (assuming you want the trim) and I'm not 100% sure it will accomodate the sliding windows/tracks in the deluxe but you could try it and find out?

Thanks for the info. Perhaps someone does recall how to reinstall the 2 side windows.
I will also be lifting the cap to replace the seal on the the top edge of the box
and
replacing the weatherstrip around the front wings/ vent windows. I'll watch the U-Tube
video several times.

I watched the video. It looks slick. However, my widow rubber is hard as rocks and
I'm afraid I'll ruin the fiberglass. Who sells the replacement rubber? The metal trim
is not important.

Ford cap parts
Hi,
I have a DeLuxe cap on blocks in my back yard. The top is split open
about a foot on the seam where the side panel meets the top panel.
I have no clue how to mend it. That's a weak area of the top.
I bought it for the back window assy. Mine is broke in 3 places.
If I can swap the side windows, the back window and the light inside,
I've got it made. The DeLuxe one needs a complete paint job too.
How can I keep the rain out of the hinge? It leaks bad.
Therefore, what is my cost on the rubber seals?
