Testing Balljoints
Dale, Not sure how long they have had those. I just on a whim asked Ed and he PM'd me some info.
Thanks Mike. I did look briefly at the Rock Auto link.
Thanks Chase!
Edit: Thanks for that info also Jay.

the uppers have a Motorcraft part number and show listed in the catalog as greasable and when I look up the lowers the part number comes up 2C3Z3050BA replaced by 4C3Z3050BA replaced by 5C3Z3050A replaced by 5C3Z3050E for F450/F550 greasable OR 5C3Z3050AB F250/F350 Excursion non greasable. so my thinking is if the first part number fit all trucks and was replaced multiable times and the F450/F550 is greasable then it will work on the F250/F350 also.
so anyone wanting to use OEM FORD lowers that are Greasable order part number
5C3Z3050E
and for OEM Motorcraft uppers that are greasable order part number
F6TZ3V049BA
PS: I compared the F250/350 non greasable to the F450/550 and they are the same shape and size and see no reason why they would not work.
Jay buy them from me and if for some reason they dont work I will buy you the aftermarket ones myself. one time offer. You just have to do a write up to confirm they will work. that way maybe I will sell more of these.

Just got the Motorcraft Upper joint in and compared it to the OEM Ford part, I see no reason the Motorcraft part wont work either. The OEM Ford upper Joint 4C3Z3049DB is greasable too and looks to be a higher quality steel but is $11 more then the Motorcraft part. But both carry the same 12/12 warranty. FYI

i need ball joints for my truck. did you say that F450/F550 ball joints would work in my truck. i am looking for a set of greaseable upper and lower for both side. had to put 2 sets in the last two years looking for something a little more heavy duty.
Thats what I'm saying.
4C3Z3049DB OEM upper
or
F6TZ3V049BA Motorcraft Upper
5C3Z3050E OEM lower

Well, we did the ball joints yesterday and all I can say is I am glad I had a couple guys there that knew what they were doing. I would have been SOL on my own. First I have to give Ed a little crap. Whats the deal sending me warped seals and ball joints with missing or incorrect parts huh? lol Just razzing ya buddy!
The Hub seal was a beotch not having the correct seal driver but we finally got it on. The lower joint worked fine but you need to reuse your old nut and retainer clip because they did not come with the ball joint.
The upper included a new nut, cotter key, and grease zerc but the grease zerc does not fit. The axle u-joint hits so I need to find a lower profile one. Whats up with that Ed!?
All in all not technically a difficult job but a few specialized tools are a must. You must have the following on hand:
A 1 5/16 open end wrench for the nut on the bottom ball joint
A ball joint press
One heck of a powerful impact wrench or a good press
A hub seal driver
A person or two that have done this before is a bonus for sure.
A special thanks go out to Mike (Ford79) for the use of his tools, garage and his know how, and for providing lunch and beverages. Also thanks to Dale (Excursion4X4) for his help and experience. And Tom (MNDiesel) for his moral support and running me around for parts, tools and food.
It was a great day with some great guys! I only got a few pictures that I will add tonight when I get home.
