Pete has got me interested in this setup once again dangit! I have plenty of 4ga red power cable from my car audio days. I just dont jump enough people to justify the 20-30 dollars for the plug ends right now. It would definitely be a lot easier to pull up and just clamp, clamp and plug though!
Edit:
Pete, I run AZ gold/yellow duralast series batteries. 100 bucks a pop and a 8 yr warranty (3yr free replacement)
Sorry, Tristan. Didn't mean to start spending everyone else's money. Oh wait. Maybe I did since everyone else took the liberty of helping me spend mine!
A 3 year warranty was what really attracted me to the Optimas so I'll have to check out the local AutoZone (I assume that's what AZ is referring to) and see if they've got batteries like that in stock.
The only thing that I don't necessarily like about the system AW has (besides the price) is that it is a pretty light wire at 4gauge. Typically we'd be using 1 gauge or even more substantial wire for jumpers.
I run the autozone duralast golds myself and I like them. Autozone is everywhere that I go and they are usually in stock.
I have run a couple optima's in my day in my race truck and trail jeep. They are great as long as you keep them on a battery maintainer if they aren't used for your DD. Once they go dead thats it , they never recover from that.
Autozone is correct! Money is always a determining factor unless you grow your own. You will never see an Optinma in mine. Way too expensive for batteries that wont be really taking advantage of the dry cell technology since you will most likely mount them in factory, upright position. At least thats just my opinion. They should have them in stock at just about any AZ out there. Thats why I usually get all my parts from AZ or Advance...way more out there and easier for a warranty claim...
I have Walmart batteries... around $150 for the pair. Warranty was just as good as anything else out there, and the price was right. Costco is also a good place to check.

I got a set of Bosch batteries with a 3year replacement, 84 month prorated for about the same as one Optima. They have the same warranty, and yellow or red is not going to be an under the hood color anyhow.. Bad news was I just drank away the savings.. Cinco De Mayo
