My brother borrowed my truck last weekend (first mistake I have made in a day or two). His wife then proceeded to run the battery down in her car, so he decided to jump start it with my truck.
He hooked up the jumper cables to the battery on the passenger side of the truck and said the cables just about melted!!!
Then he tried the battery on the drivers side, same result.
This is my first 2 battery deisel (2003, F250, 6.0).
I looked (glanced) through the owners manual for anything on jumpstarting and couldn't find anything about which battery to use.
Did he do something wrong? If I need to jumpstart a vehicle, I guess I better know how.
Check your jumper cables - these are big batteries. The guage on the cables can be important. I have jump started a car off the passenger side battery with no problems.
They either crossed the polarity or had cheap cables. I've jumped off bobcats and my big(and I mean BIG) John Deere Front end loader( that has 4 batteries) and never had any problem. Just don't let your brother touch the truck.
