I'm not a fan of road draft tubes for many reasons that I won't go into, but the blue smoke on start up sounds like oil leaking down from the valve guides. Valve stem seals are probably worn out and falling apart.
Blowby and oil vapor is fairly low at cold start. Its only after the engine runs for a while that you get enough oil mist floating around in the crank case to worry about it reaching the intake (assuming stock CDR system).
