The glow plug relay should technically have 12v to it at any time the key is in the run position. If you want to put a cut out on it, that is fine, but factory setup applies power to the controller all the time the key is on.
Only if it has power when the key is in run. I'm not sure which red wire you refer. If it is the one that triggers the relay, that one is only live at crank, no other time. the wire that used to power the Duraspark would work well though. There are two the the DS module though, if I recall, the white was the crank, while the other was the run.
Thing is on that, I tend to use that wire to run the injection pump solenoid when I do swaps like this, but what you can do is to use that wire to run a couple relays, then they connect power to the different things you need power at when the key is on.
