240 or 250 inline six?
And looking better than ever. Turns out they were transferring servers and ran into some issues.
AMC/Jeep 4.7L Stroker 1991-1995: High Performance Engines | ATK Custom Built Crate Engines
my '98 Jeep Wrangler's curb weight is 3660 according to the sticker, but weighs more hten that now due to the mods, but i'm running a 2.5l
The 1987 RENIX 4.0 made 173 hp (129 kW) and 220 lb·ft (298 N·m) of torque.
In 1988 the 4.0 received higher flowing fuel injectors, raising output to 177 hp (132 kW) and 224 lb·ft (304 N·m)
Chrysler bought AMC in 1987 and continued to produce the 4.0 straight six. In 1991 Chrysler redesigned the RENIX engine control computer and raised the intake ports approximately 1/8-inch (3.175 mm) for a better entry radius. Chrysler also enlarged the throttle body and redesigned the intake and exhaust manifolds for more efficiency, and the fuel injectors were once again replaced with higher flowing units. The camshaft profile was also changed. The net result was an engine that made 190 hp (142 kW) and 225 lb·ft (305 N·m) of torque. Badging on most Jeeps equipped with this engine read "4.0 Litre HIGH OUTPUT." The new cam profile combined with altered computer programming eliminated the need for an EGR valve and knock sensor, but made the engine more sensitive to alterations, especially where emissions are concerned.
Output as of 2004 was 190 hp (142 kW) at 4600 rpm with 230 lb·ft (312 N·m) of torque at 3000 rpm.
Since we were discussing it before. Nothing special, just some fun exhaust clips and hitting some trails. But non-the-less, a 4.0 and a 4.9 out and about.
Why do we even bother with our pathetic 300's and 240's with a mere 140 horse and 13 miles to the gallon? Let's all rip'em out and drop in the mighty TWO NINE.
<_<) (-_0) (>_>
I think it has to do with engine management, throttle body, different head, injectors(?) and other odds and ends. I know the HO had a higher HP and TQ rating, but don't know the exact numbers.
The 2.8 became a 3.1, 3.4 and I think its now evolved to a 3.9 V6 replacing the GM 3800, which is a Buick 90 degree V6.
the scenery sure makes me really, REALLY miss utah. Not much sagebrush out here in Iowa, or mountains, or open land for that matter. Every dang patch of land is owned by somebody out here. No free roaming BLM land
. Wish I could have gone diggin' with ya
It was a lot of fun.Yeah, the land out here is great, especially since those trails were 5 miles from the downtown of the state capitol.
Definitely'd been fun to have another Bronco in the mix. If you're ever out this way...
