240-300 timing cover

Are the timing covers from the old 240's interchangable with a carbed 300?

Everything on carbed to carbed 240-300 externally is the same.
240 and 300 have different crank and rods.
The 240 head is different than the 300's but is interchangeable and will result in raised compression.
