Chev had a 250, and so did Ford. It was a tall block version of the 200, intro'd in the late '70s. It had the sbf V8 bell pattern also, unlike the 200.
It had the same crapo integral intake for the head, but you can find ways around that, as many have:
Yeah, I noted that they didn't include all of the inline engines that were in trucks, too. Early Broncos had the 170 CID engine, IIRC. Maybe we can get the powers that be to change it to "Ford Inline Six, 170, 200, 250, 240, 4.9L/300" Although, part of that would negate everything since I don't recall the 250 ever being anything but a car engine and I don't think it ever made it's way into any Bronco or F-series from the factory
Well, you really should include the 144. I bought an ex-SnapOn Econoline, imagine how much weight that guy carried all the time, that had a 144. Three on the tree, no heat in winter, frozen king-pins, not even a radio. But it had extra-heavy duty springs. And a 144. I think the ridge was about 1/32". It went back and forth between Indianapolis and Glen Haven many times before being rolled down the side of a mountain.

When you try and view a thread a lot (but not all) return a mostly blank page. I tried to email the web master but it got returned as undeliverable......
It kinda sucks. There is a lot of good info there that you can't get at.
We all know the best six ever made was the 2.9L in the S-10's. 350 horsepower stock, 52 MPG and a lifespan often exceding 450,000 miles!
Why do we even bother with our pathetic 300's and 240's with a mere 140 horse and 13 miles to the gallon? Let's all rip'em out and drop in the mighty TWO NINE.
I'm having the same problem with the Ford performance six site too. I tried it on two different computers/servers and I get a blank page when trying to open individual posts.
I've had the 300, 223, and 144 Ford sixes along with the 250, 235 Chevy, 170, 225, slant six, 250 flathead Chrysler, and the 258, 4.0 AMC sixes. The Jeep engine s were the most powerful but the 300s power comes in at a lower rpm and in my experience is easier to work on. I also had a Nissan SD33 turbo diesel in a 1980 IHC Scout.
I don't like many of the V6s but have had several. They do produce good Hp for the size, most get good gas mileage, and are shorter in length and weight than there I6 counterparts.
Fastest was my 2.8 V6 SFI in my 5 speed Beretta.

Fordsix is owned by a single guy who pays for it through his business I believe, so it comes out of his pocket. It's an awesome site with tons of great resources, but since it's not a top of the line (cost) forum, it does have a few technical difficulties now and then. I usually find if it doesn't work, I'll just come back an hour later.
6cylbill you should problobly go in the airconditioning and sit down. That southern heat has gone to your head.
What about the 226 flathead everyone? That was the base engine for 3 years.
The falcon sixes seen alot of use. In many apps. What about the early ohv engines?
I think Im with 6cylbill-2.9.
Hot diggity, it won't be for long brother! We're moving to WV and we're just as excited as can be!
I wonder how a Jeep 4.0 I6 would do in a half ton pickup? I bet it would make a good hauler and daily driver, but can it pull? This is assuming the machine is stock. Four liter's can be built to make respectable power.
Probably more upgrade options available for the AMC/Jeep engine...quite the popular vehicle. A fellow I know built one for his wife to go mud dragging.

Have you ever drove a stock 4.0? I never got to drive it but I jumped in a Cherokee one time and barely touched the gas pedal.. that thing jumped forward. A lot of power stock. I wish our 300's had the horse those Jeep six's have. The best of both worlds; good low end power and peppy horsepower.
