A dead ficm 0611 or all 8 cylinder contriubution codes. So a short makes much more sense. Check the fuse for the FICM as it may have blown if there was a short to ground.
Wire Chafing Issues:
A variety of driveability issues can arise from chafing/shorting wiring, such as crank/no-start, stall, running rough, misfire, buck/jerk or lack of power. The most common location for this is the valve cover/cover bolts near the FICM or the intake manifold bolts where the harness routes under the air intake hose. The harness should be rerouted and any chafe points insulated with rubber vacuum caps. Other chafe problems can occur where the sensor harnesses route around the valve covers, thermostat housing, idler pulleys, glow plug relay bracket, and near the accelerator pedal assembly (adjustable pedals), and also near the PCM by the battery and near the relay box brackets at the left rear corner of the engine compartment. On Econolines, also inspect at the top edge of the computer, along the oil dipstick tube bracket and auxiliary A/C lines. Broadcast Messages 1407 and 3077.
Wiring Harness Chafing:
Some 03/04 trucks with the 6.0 may exhibit a crank/no start, rough running, misfire, buck/jerk or lack of power. This may be due to the FICM harness chafing on a valve cover stud near the FICM. Other potential locations for chafing are where the harness routes past the EBP sensor, the belt idler on the driver side of the engine, the glow plug control module bracket on the passenger side of the engine, and the accelerator pedal sensor wires at the steering column (adjustable pedals only). Reroute and repair the harness as necessary. Broadcast Message 0918/1374, SSM #17522.
This relates to an internally shorted FICM No Start or Constant Engine Misfire:
There are several things that can cause this symptom, including a failed FICM (fuel injector control module). In cases where the FICM is at fault the condition should be present at all engine temperatures, and codes P0611 or U0105 may be set. If codes P2614 or P2617 are stored the cause is more likely to be a wiring chaffing issue. The harness will need to be pushed and pulled to determine if the harness is shorting out. WDS should be used to verify the injectors can be commanded on (injector buzz test) and that the FICM is powering up (datalogger PIDS FICM_VPWR: ignition power; FICM_LPWR: FICM logic power from relay; FICM_MPWR: FICM output power to injectors--47-50 volts). If an injector does not click during the buzz test, a test light can be installed between the injector connector terminals 1 and 2 and checked for illumination when re-running the test.

I have checked all wires at X3 plug on FICM for power and ground and checked all wires for resistance and or short to ground. I am in the process of checking resistance of the can bus wires from FICM to PCM connector. If i have a complete circuit from ficm to pcm and all other wires check out i am going to have to say ficm is shot. i get key power to the ficm on pin 7 of x3 connector but do not get the output on pin #27 that powers the ficm relay which then power the ficm and ficm logic to communicate with the pcm. Seems like i have everything comming in to ficm but nothing leaving the ficm to activate the system, seems like a dead unit so far, few more checks and i will hopefully know for sure. thank god for alldata wiring diagrams. i checked all fuses and relays and all seem well just not getting signal from ficm.
Ok so here is what i found. I dont believe their is any electrical problems. I checked all pins on x1 x2 and x3 for resistance to ground, the only pins with risistance to ground were pins 1,2,3,22,and 26 which are grounds for the FICM. I Have 12 volts with ing. key on, on pin #7. i am not getting an output on pin #27 which powers the relay to power up the FICM. If i ground out pin #27 which activates the FICM relay i get power on pins 4,8, 23, 24, and 25 as the diagram states i should which tells me the relay and assoicated wiring is good. I have a solid connection with no short to ground on the 5 pins between the FICM and PCM (Can Bus 2H, Can Bus2L, Fuel delivery command wire, cylinder identification wire, and FICM communication wire) All 16 pins on X1 and all 16 on X2 going to the 8 injectors show no short or resistance to ground. According to the FICM tech. giude even (If there is no FICM logic power to the FICM, the injectors will still buzz once the key is cycled but the engine will not start) With everything hooked up, cycling the key on i do not get the injectors "buzz" or cycle. From what i can tell all wiring checks out perfect, and with the 2 codes listed below it all seems to be in the FICM.

**Now the question can i just buy a new FICM install it my self and bring the truck to the dealer to have everything programed or is their other things involved. I would rather put it together my self if you know what i mean. Someone also mentioned about just having my current FICM reprogrammed, but why would it loose the program if nothing is wrong with is, cannot see that being and option but wanted to get a second opinion.
Again thanks for everything.

Very good evenings work! Ford needs the trucks PCM and old FICM to calibrate the new one to my knowledge, but in your case the PCM can't communicate with the FICM so both might require a programing. Best to go to the dealer and ask the tech that will flash the new FICM what he needs to do.All new FICMs require programing,a wrecker in your area might be a much cheaper option. My local dealer found a used one for my truck for me.
I got a used one at a local used parts place (junkyard) for $400. Mine come off of an wrecked 07 with 40,000 miles on it. I put it on back in january no problems since.

Di you have to bring in to the dealer to be programed or did it work becuase it came out of a running truck.
I didnt have to have it programmed just put it in and was good to go. I am not sure of what flash it has, the truck runs great i get about 15.5 mpg in city driving and around 17 -18 highway.
Installed new FICM thursday night, brought truck to dealership on friday 1 hour later truck was programed and ready, Picked up friday afternoon and all is well, truck runs great, glad to have her back. Thanks to everyone for the help and great information.
