well i am going to be able to shed some of the wieght. moving the battery to the trunk and putting an aluminum fuel cell in the trunk will probably help it handle better along with the aluminum front bumper. plus the aluminum heads will make the engine a little lighter. im still contemplating what torque converter to use but ill probably go with the b&m holeshot 2400. i cant wait to get this baby together and in the car, shes gonna be a screamer. might even be able to squeeze a few more ponies out of it if i can find a really good custom tuner around here.

I would also look at ACC Bosshog converters.

Hey 73FOMO, what would the numbers be with a 351w with the same cam, heads, and specs you had in for 70torino429' 347?

i still might wind up going with one of them dss racing bare blocks that are already .030 over and have thread in freeze plugs. they claim to be a bit stronger than stock and can handle 650hp. for just under a grand already machined seems like a good deal. then i could get some .030 over pistons and have a true 347. ill have to see what money i have left when i get to that point. going to order the heads, cam, intake, fuel system and such and then pick the bottom end.

Yeah your converter will have alot to do with your cam & where it makes power . I just ran crown vic thru the 1/4 caculater with the build HP . 12.9 1/4 mile . That should get the job done !!! Lew

Yeah I came up with high 12.9's to low 13's for the Vic...estimating 4100 lbs. car and driver. Remember is you go .030 over that's going to increase compression more. How much is that DSS block? If you are going to do that just by Motorsport's Boss Block. I'll let you know what .030 does shortly and reed1951 I will run the numbers for a 351.

Here is a dyno run of Torino's 342, a 351W with the same specs, and Torino's bored to .030 over. All very close....if you had a 351W with Fuel Injection, basically you would be changing cam, heads, and exhaust, other than tweaks to the throttle body, etc. It would probably be the most cost effective route.

im liking the sounds of the quarter times. ive heard some mixed reviews on the dss racing products so im probably going to stay away from them. ill just see what this engine i have looks like on the inside, and see how much machining its going to need.

Lew,Torino....just for fun and to back up these numbers this is Torino's Stroker vs. The CarCraft mag 302 with AFR's that we discussed earlier in this thread. I didn't add the extra lift from the 1.7 rockers on the CarCraft Motor, but you can see how close this is to their actual dyno run as it is.....

i do get alot of my stuff from there. should be going to pickup the complete ho motor next week. 400 bucks from oil pan to intake works for me, says its got less than 80k on it. ill see if i can negotiate a little better deal. but i should be able to find alot of the other parts on there as well. im going to have to get some tire to hold this thing back lol, i dont think the 215-70-15s will handle much, hell i had no problem breaking them loose with the stock motor. too bad i dont need a supercharger, since theres a kenne bell 1.5l for 1500 bucks nearby.
