Friendly Warning for Y'all about Paint

I just bought a 2008 left-over Expedition. After a little paint inspection, it is missing paint on all 4 doors, the hood, and the back hatch...and then there are several areas with some sort of foreign material underneath the paint.

I'm not sure what the hell happened that day at the paint booth, but it isn't the first time.
I had damn near the same problem occur on my 2006 F-150.

It ended up being in the paint booth for 5 days to get 3 doors resprayed, and a pillar as well

anyway, I highly suggest you check your doors out, and your hood. The areas missing paint were on the interior under the door panels.

here is what I'm talking about. you can clearly see the black...and then the unpainted areas

they say lightning doesn't strike twice, but damn if it didn't catch me twice...I figure it isn't a fluke now. I'd hate to see anybody else get bent over like I am right now...especially with those pretty new 09's

I think this is a pretty common thing. My 07 is rather light on the paint in the tailgate pocket. After 2.5 years of NH roads and all the winter chemicals they use here, there's not a single spec of rust in this area.

my '05 is the same way, inside the door along the bottom seam and the bottom seam of the tailgate have a very light coating of paint, it is quite a bit lighter than what it's supposed to be. After 4 years of winter driving there is no rust yet.

It wouldnt be bare metal as the frames are dipped into a treatment then primed even before the colour goes on. looks like they keep the paint thin in areas that dont really need it.

wow, I wouldn't have thought it to be so prevalent.

needed or not, I am paying for a coat of paint. That is why my Expy will be corrected like I had my F-150 done.

I understand cost cutting measures, but this is one of those things that shouldn't be shorted on IMO.
