I am running a 400/C6 in my 79 F250. The other day the transmission just started "slipping" while going forward. It still seems to be grabbing fine in reverse, but not forward. It still shifts fine between gears while moving forward, but just doesn't seem to be grabbing and can barely haul the truck over hills. I don't have much automatic experience!!! HELP PLEASE!! It just seemed to suddenly happen....this hasn't been a progressing problem.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Oct-02 AT 02:42 AM (EST)]Check the vac. line going to the tranny. Mine came off and caused it to slip really bad (especially in 3rd). If the vac line looks good, It may be the vac modulator on the tranny.
Hey thanks, I'll have to check that. Is there any possibility that it is something in my valve body (a piece of dirt or something) not engaging the forward clutch completely? Is this even possible....I'm not really sure what I'm talking about. Also, does anybody think it may be that possibly a bolt holding the valve body on may have come loose and is not making a good seal? Like I say I don't know anything about automatics, but reading other threads I have picked up a few things. I have not pulled the pan off to check this. I recently installed a new filter and I know my fluid is good.
Also, what kind of damage can be done if the fluid level is too high in a C6. This may have happened at some point also....
